It was never a secret that I wanted a dog again, once we had our own house.
Bob, less than thrilled, had a few rules: Must be housebroken, must be 25 LBS or less, must like cats.
I never actively looked once we got our house. We were busy enough, although from time to time I would check the facebook page of a rescue group I worked with.
In March of 2013, I also went to other stores in my district to provide Easter Bunny shoots. I spent every day of that month in one store or another.
Bob’s weekend job was being a rep for dog food, so he was in the stores frequently. That day, my only day I wouldn’t be in a store, he happened to be in mine.
My go-to rescue group The Silver Lining for Pit Bulls (an all breed rescue) was there and imagine my surprise when my dog-ambivalent husband started bombarding me with texts about how I should see this dog and how much she liked him. After he described the dog, I asked him what the dog’s name was. He told me it was “Jessie.”
Little did Bob know, I knew this dog. Not only did I know this dog, I had peeped her on facebook when she first came to Buffalo. I knew that she met all of Bob’s dog requirements. I had tried to get a good look at her when she had visited my store a couple of weeks earlier, but we were so insanely busy, I only had time to get this quick picture with no interaction.
I told him that I did not need to see the dog, that he can go ahead and adopt her, if he wanted her. He insisted I come over, not realizing I was familiar with the dog.
So, no, I did not get a day away from a store in March.
Jessie had her home visit a few weeks later. She went right to Bob and hugged him. The cats were not thrilled, or course, but they handled her better than expected and she, of course, loved them all to bits.
We were not going to keep the name Jessie. Bob was going through a list of goddess’ names. He paused at Daphne and I immediately said, you don’t have a Daphne, you have a Scooby.
Bob, a huge Scooby Doo fan, had a Scooby of his own. We went with Scooby Dee, after Scooby Doo’s cousin.
The cats haven’t forgiven us since.

Very impressive! I thought with my two dogs, there’s no way they’d be able to get photos of my girls.. they never sit still! But with the help of cute barking noises, and a lot of “car rides” being promised, the photos turned out beautiful!
The staff at Hubbard Photography worked with my girls, (and what little attention span they had) and captured some amazing photos that I didn’t think were possible.
The session was short and sweet and the photos were more than phenomenal! What really surprised me was how they were able to capture their personality. Lucy, my fun loving “do what I wanna” dog, and Maggie, my little princess that sat so perfect and pretty for every shot they wanted.
Although they weren’t a fan of some props, they have fun and everyone was able to enjoy a few laughs. Highly recommended!Sarah Perry
